Span Design Studio is an award-winning interior design boutique studio based in Sydney. Our team works closely in conjunction with each client to explore and curate unique design solutions. Through a collaborative work culture and an open discussion system, a myriad of creative ideas are proposed and refined to develop a conceptual narrative that realises the essence of the project’s brand identity, intent and desired aesthetics.

Elton Chen
Creative Director / Founder
With over 15 years of professional experience as an interior designer, Elton has led, inspired and developed Span Design into a highly regarded and award winning studio since its establishment. Elton has been involved with a multitude of leading design firms in both Australia and internationally on a variety of different projects. His extensive engagement with projects ranging from retail, hospitality to residential has curated his depth of knowledge in design.
Elton’s passion for exploring the finer details and practical aspects within projects has led him to ensure that each design successfully stands the test of time whilst adhering to maintaining a strong conceptual focus. Elton’s interest in taking cultural inspiration within his designs has shaped his perspective into creating unique well considered spaces which tailor to each client and their own individual story.
Joanna Fang
Creative Director / Founder
Over the course of her experience in the design industry, Joanna has built a strong creative perspective that aims to create captivating spaces with a focus on the senses. Her background in Fine Arts and interest in science fiction have led her to pursue the ideals of constructing unique sensorial environments that places focus on the user experience. Her highly creative abilities allow her to visualise her concepts within spaces which balance her technical ability to resolve finer details.
Joanna’s position as creative director challenges her to always place an emphasis on thinking ahead and for future trends in design not only for her own growth but for the growth of Span Design. Her belief in always having a diverse approach in experimenting with a variety of concepts and drawing inspiration from her surroundings has led her to achieve a high standard for each project.
